A High Frequency Ultrasound Actuated Synthetic -Aperture Array
نویسندگان
چکیده
An Actuated Synthetic-Aperture Array (ASA) system is described that is capable of overcoming the technical difficulties in manufacturing an ultrasonic phased array in the 30 to 70 Mhz frequency range. The system is capable of generating images using a linear array of transducers which are of equal quality compared to a 64element phased array while. The array was rapidly and precisely positioned with a piezoelectric actuator. The image was formed utilizing a synthetic aperture (SA) approach rather than electronic beamforming. The SA image was further refined by application of a deconvolution algorithm.

Generating and Focusing the Ultrasound Waves Using Elastomer-based Capacitive Micro-Speakers
Ultrasound wave is a kind of waves with the frequency higher than the human audible frequency. Although ultrasound was first used for military identification purposes, it has been used for decades for various other applications, especially medical applications. Medical applications of ultrasound include diagnostic and therapeutic applications, such as for the treatment of cancer. In this paper,...

In the paper the study of synthetic transmit aperture method applying the Golay coded transmission for medical ultrasound imaging is presented. Longer coded excitation allows to increase the total energy of the transmitted signal without increasing the peak pressure. Moreover signal-to-noise ratio and penetration depth are improved while maintaining high ultrasound image resolution. In the work...
متن کاملUltrasonic Imaging in Air with a Broadband Inverse Synthetic Aperture Sonar
An experimental ultrasound scanning sonar has been developed that uses a phased ultrasonic transducer array to image objects through the air. The sonar generates arbitrary long duration broadband signals and uses pulse compression to achieve a high range resolution and a high signal to noise ratio. This paper considers using the sonar in an inverse synthetic aperture side-scan configuration, wh...
متن کاملTransmit Sub-aperture Optimization in MSTA Ultrasound Imaging Method
The paper presents the optimization problem for the multi-element synthetic transmit aperture method (MSTA) in ultrasound imaging applications. The optimal choice of the transmit aperture size is performed as a trade-off between the lateral resolution, penetration depth and the frame rate. Results of the analysis obtained by a developed optimization algorithm are presented. Maximum penetration ...
متن کاملAnalysis and Optimization of Synthetic Aperture Ultrasound Imaging Using the Effective Aperture Approach
An effective aperture approach is used as a tool for analysis and parameter optimization of mostly known ultrasound imaging systems phased array systems, compounding systems and synthetic aperture imaging systems. Both characteristics of an imaging system, the effective aperture function and the corresponding two-way radiation pattern, provide information about two of the most important paramet...
